Paris - The Louvre

Friday night I want to the Louvre. Deciding to stick with the paintings, I left the sculpture, antiquities, objets d'art and the islamic art collections for my next visit. Even the painting collection alone was is just massive, and so although there were plenty of paintings that didn’t do a lot for me, four hours still melted away as I browsed. I loved many of the paintings, and made notes all over my museum map to help me remember them all.

I tried to pull up some of my favourites on the Louvre website so that I could share them with all of you, but the tiny pictures they give you are sorely disappointing after seeing the real thing. In the end, I would say I was fascinated by many of the portraits, taken in by many of the Dutch paintings of everyday life, and loved Camille Corot’s landscapes with people. I hope that everyone gets a chance to go to a museum like the Louvre at some point in their life. No other museum I’ve ever seen compares, even a little, to what I saw at the Louvre.

Here are a couple of photos of the Louvre's pyramid courtyard, one when I arrived, and one when I left. The one in the dark is a bit fuzzy because I was trying to take the shot without a flash, but I still think it's a cool shot with the moon where it is.
