The Netherlands - Arrival and Schogen

Finally, 26 years into my life, I made it to Holland where my mother was born. I arrived in Amsterdam on August 31 early in the morning, and my Tante Gery and Uncle Cor left their town in the north VERY early in the morning to pick me up. We went back to the house to drop my stuff off, had a coffee and headed to a small town in the north of Holland (Schogen) to see a parade of volunteers in traditional Dutch dress. It was quite the shock to the system to suddenly be in Holland after weeks of thinking of virtually nothing but ultimate and moving, but here I was…in Europe!
